    Clinical Hypnosis

Clinical Hypnosis is a collaborative mind/body approach towards treatment. It is not something that done to you. Rather, something that is done with you, leaving the deepest part of you in control of your pace of change. Division 30 (Psychological Hypnosis) of the American Psychological Association defines hypnosis as "A state of consciousness involving focused attention and reduced peripheral awareness characterized by an enhanced capacity for response to suggestion” (Elkins, Barabasz, Council, & Spiegel, 2015, American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis).

    Target Symptoms

    Sleep

Hypnosis as a treatment for sleep disorders is effective by helping individuals relax deeply, reduce stress, and reprogram negative thought patterns that interfere with sleep. By promoting calmness and focus, hypnosis facilitates improved sleep onset and quality.

    Self Esteem

Through reframing negative self-perceptions and fostering a more positive self-image, hypnosis helps individuals enhance their self-esteem. Research supports its ability to bring about lasting improvements in self-worth and emotional well-being.

    Anxiety

Hypnosis effectively treats anxiety by promoting relaxation and reframing anxious thoughts, helping people to access and activate their inner resources to calm the nervous system and improve emotional regulation.

    Relaxation

Hypnosis has been shown to promote relaxation and regulate the autonomic nervous system (ANS) by reducing sympathetic activity and enhancing parasympathetic tone. This shift supports nervous system balance and stress reduction, facilitating a state of calm and physiological equilibrium.

    Hot Flashes

Research supports the use of Hypnosis to treat the vasomotor symptoms of the menopausal phase of life. It is a gentle, non-pharmacological approach that can be used in place of or in conjunction with Hormone Replacement Therapy

    Motivation

Hypnosis can enhance motivation and performance across sports, academic and performance settings by addressing underlying psychological barriers, boosting self-efficacy, and fostering a positive mindset, thereby facilitating goal achievement and sustained effort.
